      Forgiveness

      When you’ve done wrong

      رَبَّنَا ظَلَمْنَآ أَنفُسَنَا وَإِن لَّمْ تَغْفِرْ لَنَا وَتَرْحَمْنَا لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلْخَـٰسِرِينَ

      Transliteration

      Rabbana zalamna anfusana wa in lam taghfir lana wa tarhamna lanakunanna minal-khasirin

      Meaning

      Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves. If You do not forgive us and have mercy on us, we will surely be among the losers.

      For forgiveness and mercy

      رَّبِّ ٱغْفِرْ وَٱرْحَمْ وَأَنتَ خَيْرُ ٱلرَّٰحِمِينَ

      Transliteration

      Rabbighfir warham wa anta khayrur-rahimin

      Meaning

      My Lord, forgive and have mercy, for You are the best of those who show mercy.

      رَبَّنَا لَا تُزِغْ قُلُوبَنَا بَعْدَ إِذْ هَدَيْتَنَا وَهَبْ لَنَا مِن لَّدُنكَ رَحْمَةً ۚ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ ٱلْوَهَّابُ

      Transliteration

      Rabbana la tuzigh qulubana ba‘da idh hadaytana wa hab lana min ladunka rahmah, innaka antal-Wahhab

      Meaning

      Our Lord, do not let our hearts swerve after You have guided us, and grant us mercy from Yourself. Truly, You are the Giver of all.

      Al ‘Imran 3:8

      رَبَّنَآ ءَاتِنَا مِن لَّدُنكَ رَحْمَةً وَهَيِّئْ لَنَا مِنْ أَمْرِنَا رَشَدًا

      Transliteration

      Rabbana atina min ladunka rahmatan wa hayyi’ lana min amrina rashada

      Meaning

      Our Lord, give us mercy from You, and set our affair on the right course.

      Transliteration

      Rabbishrah li sadri, wa yassir li amri, wahlul ‘uqdatan min lisani, yafqahu qawli

      Meaning

      My Lord, open my heart for me, make my task easy for me, and untie the knot from my tongue, so that they understand what I say.

      Goodness and acceptance

      For good in both worlds

      رَبَّنَآ ءَاتِنَا فِى ٱلدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ ٱلنَّارِ

      Transliteration

      Rabbana atina fid-dunya hasanatan wa fil-akhirati hasanatan wa qina ‘adhaban-nar

      Meaning

      Our Lord, give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.

      For your deeds to be accepted

      رَبَّنَا تَقَبَّلْ مِنَّآ ۖ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلْعَلِيمُ

      Transliteration

      Rabbana taqabbal minna, innaka antas-Sami‘ul-‘Alim

      Meaning

      Our Lord, accept this from us. You are the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.

      For protection from evil whispers

      رَّبِّ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ هَمَزَٰتِ ٱلشَّيَـٰطِينِ وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ رَبِّ أَن يَحْضُرُونِ

      Transliteration

      Rabbi a‘udhu bika min hamazatish-shayatin, wa a‘udhu bika rabbi an yahdurun

      Meaning

      My Lord, I seek refuge in You from the promptings of the devils, and I seek refuge in You, my Lord, from their coming near me.

      رَبَّنَا هَبْ لَنَا مِنْ أَزْوَٰجِنَا وَذُرِّيَّـٰتِنَا قُرَّةَ أَعْيُنٍ وَٱجْعَلْنَا لِلْمُتَّقِينَ إِمَامًا

      Transliteration

      Rabbana hab lana min azwajina wa dhurriyyatina qurrata a‘yunin waj‘alna lil-muttaqina imama

      Meaning

      Our Lord, grant us spouses and children who bring joy to our eyes, and make us an example for those who are mindful of You.

      رَّبِّ ٱرْحَمْهُمَا كَمَا رَبَّيَانِى صَغِيرًا

      Transliteration

      Rabbirhamhuma kama rabbayani saghira

      My Lord, have mercy on them both, as they raised me when I was small.

      Our Lord, forgive me, my parents and the believers on the Day the reckoning takes place.

      لَّآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّآ أَنتَ سُبْحَـٰنَكَ إِنِّى كُنتُ مِنَ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ

      Transliteration

      La ilaha illa anta subhanaka inni kuntu minaz-zalimin

      Meaning

      There is no god but You. Glory be to You. I have been among the wrongdoers.

      As you set off, after saying Allahu akbar three times

      سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي سَخَّرَ لَنَا هَذَا وَمَا كُنَّا لَهُ مُقْرِنِينَ وَإِنَّا إِلَى رَبِّنَا لَمُنْقَلِبُونَ اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّا نَسْأَلُكَ فِي سَفَرِنَا هَذَا الْبِرَّ وَالتَّقْوَى وَمِنَ الْعَمَلِ مَا تَرْضَى اللَّهُمَّ هَوِّنْ عَلَيْنَا سَفَرَنَا هَذَا وَاطْوِ عَنَّا بُعْدَهُ اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ الصَّاحِبُ فِي السَّفَرِ وَالْخَلِيفَةُ فِي الأَهْلِ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ وَعْثَاءِ السَّفَرِ وَكَآبَةِ الْمَنْظَرِ وَسُوءِ الْمُنْقَلَبِ فِي الْمَالِ وَالأَهْلِ

      Transliteration

      Subhanal-ladhi sakhkhara lana hadha wa ma kunna lahu muqrinin, wa inna ila rabbina lamunqalibun. Allahumma inna nas’aluka fi safarina hadhal-birra wat-taqwa, wa minal-‘amali ma tarda. Allahumma hawwin ‘alayna safarana hadha watwi ‘anna bu‘dah. Allahumma antas-sahibu fis-safar, wal-khalifatu fil-ahl. Allahumma inni a‘udhu bika min wa‘tha’is-safar, wa ka’abatil-manzar, wa su’il-munqalabi fil-mali wal-ahl

      Meaning

      Glory be to the One who has made this subject to us, which we could never have managed ourselves, and to our Lord we will surely return. O Allah, on this journey we ask You for goodness and mindfulness of You, and for deeds that please You. O Allah, make this journey easy for us and its distance short. O Allah, You are our Companion on the journey and the One who looks after our families. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the hardships of travel, from distressing sights, and from returning to find harm in our wealth or families.

      لَبَّيْكَ اللَّهُمَّ لَبَّيْكَ، لَبَّيْكَ لاَ شَرِيكَ لَكَ لَبَّيْكَ، إِنَّ الْحَمْدَ وَالنِّعْمَةَ لَكَ وَالْمُلْكَ، لاَ شَرِيكَ لَكَ

      Transliteration

      Labbayk Allahumma labbayk, labbayka la sharika laka labbayk, innal-hamda wan-ni‘mata laka wal-mulk, la sharika lak

      Meaning

      Here I am, O Allah, here I am. Here I am, You have no partner, here I am. All praise, all blessings and all dominion are Yours. You have no partner.

      اللَّهُمَّ افْتَحْ لِي أَبْوَابَ رَحْمَتِكَ

      Transliteration

      Allahummaftah li abwaba rahmatik

      O Allah, open for me the doors of Your mercy.

      Umrah

      During Tawaf

      Between the Yemeni Corner and the Black Stone

      رَبَّنَآ ءَاتِنَا فِى ٱلدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ ٱلنَّارِ

      Transliteration

      Rabbana atina fid-dunya hasanatan wa fil-akhirati hasanatan wa qina ‘adhaban-nar

      Meaning

      Our Lord, give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.

      At Maqam Ibrahim

      Before praying two rak‘ahs behind Maqam Ibrahim

      وَٱتَّخِذُوا۟ مِن مَّقَامِ إِبْرَٰهِـۧمَ مُصَلًّى

      Transliteration

      Wattakhidhu min maqami Ibrahima musalla

      Meaning

      And take the place where Ibrahim stood as a place of prayer.

      Approaching Safa

      As you approach Mount Safa

      إِنَّ ٱلصَّفَا وَٱلْمَرْوَةَ مِن شَعَآئِرِ ٱللَّهِ ۖ فَمَنْ حَجَّ ٱلْبَيْتَ أَوِ ٱعْتَمَرَ فَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْهِ أَن يَطَّوَّفَ بِهِمَا ۚ وَمَن تَطَوَّعَ خَيْرًا فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ شَاكِرٌ عَلِيمٌ

      Transliteration

      Innas-safa wal-marwata min sha‘a’irillah, faman hajjal-bayta awi‘tamara fala junaha ‘alayhi an yattawwafa bihima, wa man tatawwa‘a khayran fa’innallaha shakirun ‘alim

      Meaning

      Safa and Marwah are among the symbols of Allah. So whoever performs Hajj or Umrah to the House does no wrong in walking between them. And whoever does good of their own accord, Allah is Appreciative, All-Knowing.

      At Safa, as you begin Sa‘i

      أَبْدَأُ بِمَا بَدَأَ اللَّهُ بِهِ

      Transliteration

      Abda’u bima bada’allahu bih

      Meaning

      I begin with what Allah began with.

      On Safa and Marwah

      On Safa and on Marwah, facing the Ka‘bah, after saying Allahu akbar

      لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لاَ شَرِيكَ لَهُ لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرٌ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ أَنْجَزَ وَعْدَهُ وَنَصَرَ عَبْدَهُ وَهَزَمَ الأَحْزَابَ وَحْدَهُ

      Transliteration

      La ilaha illallahu wahdahu la sharika lah, lahul-mulku wa lahul-hamd, wa huwa ‘ala kulli shay’in qadir. La ilaha illallahu wahdah, anjaza wa‘dah, wa nasara ‘abdah, wa hazamal-ahzaba wahdah

      Meaning

      There is no god but Allah alone, with no partner. His is the dominion and His is the praise, and He has power over all things. There is no god but Allah alone. He fulfilled His promise, gave victory to His servant, and alone defeated the allied forces.

      Leaving the masjid

      As you leave Masjid al-Haram

      اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ

      Transliteration

      Allahumma inni as’aluka min fadlik

      O Allah, I ask You for Your bounty.
